Cool. Thanks.
I've read in several places that this DAC sounds a lot like the W4S DACs, which I'm not surprised, since they both use the same DAC chip. I guess it's all the implementation, though....

Interesting.. I've been curious about that DAC since I've switched to a PC based source. I'm a fan of the Sabre DAC (after owning the W4S and Audiolab DACs).
Do you know if it's fully balanced?
I don't think I'll ever need another DAC. It's seriously that good.
I can solve your speaker upgrade conundrum right now:
Totem Forests.
There. Done...
I've tried out a few DACs in the last year myself. One of my buddies has the BDA-1 one, and having heard it extensively, I knew I wanted one.
A lot of people are always knocking Bryston as being...
I'm a big fan of the British integrateds. I have a Rega Elicit myself and quite like it. Never heard the Destiny, though.
The biggest difference I've noticed in my system while experimenting with cables was with interconnects between my CDP and my amp. I was using Blue Jeans Cables IC's, which I thought were pretty...
Just picked up my BDA-1 yesterday. I'd been considering getting the Rega DAC or even the W4S DAC2, but I knew it would just be an incremental upgrade and I would end up getting the Bryston down the...
BTW, if I was in the market for a universal player (and I know this post is rather later, since the original one was posted some time ago), I'd go for Oppo 83SE. A friend of mine who owned it said it...
I had a Samsung BDP a couple years back. It lasted 3 weeks! lol... yeah, they don't build things to last at all anymore. Not the big-box store mass consumption stuff anyway.
Interesting article AlienTech. The author definitely knows his stuff, and has obviously put lots of research into things. As daunting as it is for the average to rip their CD collection to disc, its...
Thanks Suave. It'll be interesting to see how it compares to the Jolida.
Just ordered a Grant Fidelity CD-327A on the recommendation from a friend on another forum. Should be here for the weekend!

Let you know how...
Correct SG, using the digital out on the Jolida bypasses the tube output stage. Funny this is, using the DACMagic the sound was not more "digital" sounding than the tube output. The Jolida actually...
I agree with you. I'm a huge Cambridge Audio fan - I have a 540R receiver, and in the past have owned a 640C CDP and an 840A amp. Never had any issues with any of them. The 840A was almost a keeper...
LOL... it's my son's cat. He's actually not as mean as he looks.
I tried the DAC-09 with the very same set-up you have now - the Apollo via coax to the DAC. It sounded pretty sweet. I also tried...
Have you tried the DAC-09 via USB yet SoundGame?
For what it's worth, my Sony BDP-550S sounds fantastic playing CDs. Something about the blue laser :-)
I've heard a few people who have been at this hobby for a long time say that the BD-83 SE is one of the best sounding CD players they've ever heard. Quite a statement.
I've owned two of these. The first one I bought was defective, it would intermittently and randomly drop the signal and the sound would cut out. At first I thought it was my perhaps my cable, then...
For me it was pair of Yamaha NS-30X speakers I bought on credit when I was still in high-school in the 80's. They were hideously expensive at the time (at least for me), but I had them for almost 20...
