whats everyone's take on the olympic coverage this year?

i think we are in a unique position in that we have a *ton* of canadian coverage and also get to enjoy some of the NBC coverage as well..

ctvs on air team is kind of a joke...i mean..who cares what ben mulroney thinks about hockey or bobsled?, or anything really for that matter? haha

the coverage i have seen from NBC puts everything canadian to shame in terms of picture quality and sound quality, but the way it is presented (one athlete, ten minutes of "olympic moments", another athlete, interview with that athletes third grade teacher)makes me want to choke someone.

if we could combine the nbc engineering with the CTV/TSN/Sportsnet style of coverage i would be in heaven

I'm not the biggest fan on sports on TV but I have been watching many of the olympic events, and I couldn't agree more with your comments.

The picture and sound are significantly better on NBC compared to CTV, which is a total shame.

What about the opening ceremony? Did any one notice how badly the cameras where shaking and how poor the overall camera work was (at least on CTV)? It was driving me nuts! Not to mention that I completely hated the whole show. Every time I thought it couldn't get worse... it did. And to top it all off, they drove Gretzky around in the back of a pick-up truck in the rain for what felt like 15 minutes. Who ever thought this would be a good idea?

CTV gets the nod for olympic coverage in my view, Brian Williams does a great
job in presenting the Canadian athletes, I find his interviews warm, open and
easy to listen to. I suppose you love'm or hate'm, kinda like the leafs.........
( oops did i say that ! ) I totally aggree with suave on the Gretzky parade...
what the heck were they thinking ?!! They let those fans get tooooo close....
must of been the longest and wettest ride of his life. Touching on the olympic
atmosphere around here....... so proud to be Canadian, patriotism has gone
through the roof around the lower mainland.....everywhere red and white.......
banners, car flags, jerseys, **** real **** buzz in the air. So nice to see.
Havent got downtown yet, going Saturday night to check it out. The German and
Irish houses are supposedly the places to visit......gee...wonder why...

highlight of the olympics so far was brian williams leading into commercial one day last week saying "and we'll have all this and more when we come back, right here on CBC...uhhh...errrr...mmmm...CTV (nervous laughter). we'll be right back"
