Default New Star Trek Movie Available Today - Which version will you be getting?

The new Star Trek movie is hitting the shelves today on Blu-ray and DVD.

In Canada, five different versions will be available:

    - all stores: standard DVD and Blu-ray editions
    - Best Buy: a Blu-ray 3-disc edition which features a special package that turns into a U.S.S. Enterprise DVD display
    - Futureshop: 2 DVD Steelbook edition and 3 Blu-ray disc Steelbook edition
    - HMV: Limited Edition Blu-ray Gift Set with comes with Four Replica Starfleet Division Badges and Digital copy of the movie
    - Walmart: Exclusive Lenticular o-sleeve package on the Star Trek 2 disc DVD

I'll probably be picking up the Best Buy version later this evening. I very curious what this movie will look like in my home theatre compared to the movie theatre!

Which one will you be picking up?

    Default Got the standard blu-ray

Had a problem - part of the disc was corrupted so had to exchange it at BB. I'm not a big ST fan but this is a great movie. The blu-ray version is very high quality for both audio and video.

I just picked up the HMV version... with the badges. I figure I can use one of the badges to supplement my Captain Kirk costume for next year's Halloween!

I just received an ARCAM FMJ AVR600 AV receiver, that I'll be reviewing for the next issue of CHF, so the timing is great with this movie. I'll post my first impression in the next few days.

The Star Trek Blu-ray has officially become one of my favourite demo discs - it has fantastic video and audio that are perfect for showing what your home theatre is capable of.

A nice gift I received from my brother. I watched it on his 106" screen with his Panasonic projector and it looked phenomenal.

Another great demo disk is Terminator Salvation. I believe it's chapter 9, where the huge hunter droid attacks the refuges, then you get a pick-up chase with robo bikes followed by a hunter-killer encounter over a bridge. It's an awesome test of the audio on your setup.

I've been meaning to pick up Terminator Salvation myself.

I don't know about you guys but I buy most of my Blu-rays from the "previously enjoyed" section at Blockbuster. If you wait 3 to 4 weeks after the movie first comes it, they all go on sale 2 for $30. How could you go wrong when most new releases on Blu-ray go for $30 or more each!

I do the same - that's how I got Terminator Salvation. That said, Amazon.ca had a boxing week sale and I got Batman Begins and the Dark Knight, for $9.99 each, shipping was free because I ordered some CD's and the total was over $39.99.
