Thanks for sharing all the details about the screen with us Chris. I'm sure that someone will use this info in the future to build their own custom screen. I love the picture of the speakers behind the screen - that looks awesome!

Wicked Chris - very ominous looking...IMAX like - YES.
Just need those laser light demo....
Let us know how the experience is going and maybe some shots with some movies in play would look great.

Awsome build!![]()
Hi All,
I just got back from an amazing vacation in Mexico, so I still have to put the finishing touches on. I've got the chairs in, which freed up the other side of the room so I have been putting down the baseboard on the other side of the new wall. Now all that is left is putting the trim around the Bookcase door, which has since been reinstalled. It needed a bit of adjustment to account for the extra thickness of the carpet. Just before we left on vacation, I did manage to sit down and watch some movies in it.
Here are some pics of the chairs.

That looks absolutely killer Chris - you did an amazing job!!! Thank you very much for sharing with everyone on the forum.
So what's next - any plans to upgrade some of your components?![]()

Thanks Suave.
Well just a few more touch ups to do on the outside - just a bit more baseboard to go. I finished with the trim around the bookcase. I'll post some more pics when I get some books on it.
As far as upgrades go, the only thing I've got planned right now is that I've ordered a new, much quieter motor for the screen masking. That winch I got does the job but it just way too loud. Once that arrives I should be able to just swap it out easily. The rest of the components are still doing just fine so there is no itch to upgrade just yet.
Next up though is finishing my Mame machine. I'll post pics of that when I get back to it.
Chris
Well it's finally done. Here are a couple more pictures of the door, complete with trim and a couple of books on it (More books to be added later)
Wow. It feels weird to be done. I started working on this in February 2010. I remember having a week off work when I started and thinking that I might get it all done in a week. Ah how foolish of me.
Chris That is some fine work that you have done. It looks great and it must feel real fine to sit back and watch a show or two!
I love the "secret" bookshelf doorway to the home theatre Chris!
I just showed some of the finished pics of your project to my girlfriend and she was very impressed as well. I'm trying to prepare her for a similar project in my basement in the near future and such wonderful pictures certainly help![]()

Perhaps you should put a photo of books across the latch cubbord on the door to have a more realistic look to the bookcase.
I love it and if I had a basement I would be in the planning stages right now.
