    Default Adding stereo

    Hi,

I want to upgrade my audio experience for my HTPC - currently passing audio through HDMI to my TV. I plan to add two main speakers.

Is it a bad idea to connect the PC directly to a two-channel power amp?

it's not a "bad" idea but it depends on your expectations. a "cheap" audio card will do the job for you and may be to your liking. because it's not expensive to give that a try it's a good way to start experimenting.

another way to go may be to continue to feed your TV with the HDMI and see if there are audio out jacks on your TV that you could use to feed the amp/receiver.

I think you should just buy a new receiver!

I would also suggest using some sort of remote to control the volume as well.
