    Default Killzone3 3D

Sony's latest first person shooter comes out today. This game was built as a 3D game so it should look great.

Will give a review as soon as I can.

Okay - I got Killzone 3 and splurged for the Sharp Shooter rifle attachment for the PlayStation Move controller (which was an extra $40). I'll probably spend a few hours playing it this weekend

Alright I had a couple of hours to play the game this past weekend and here are my first impressions.

The game is just as amazing, if not even better than Killzone 2 - incredible graphics, characters and environments. The addition of 3D goes a long way to making you feel as if you were actually there in the alien environment, fighting alongside the ISA forces. I enjoy the storyline and the cut scenes look fantastic (although can get a little lenghy at times). However, unfortunately the 3D suffers from a lot of image crosstalk (more than most 3D movies I've seen lately) which takes away from the overall experience.

I played with the rifle attachement for about an hour and decided that it was a little annoying to use. Controlling the character's movement became a little cumbersome and holding the gun just to walk around (as opposed to only when firing) got rather tiring. Hence I returned the rifle and don't recommended it to anyone.

The game itself is very easy to recommend thought - I can't wait to put a few more hours into it!

I agree that the graphics are incredible in Killzone 3.

I did not notice much crosstalk as Suave but I did have to sit closer to my set than the normal 17' back. The Move setup works best around 12 - 8 feet IMO.

The Rifle is amazing so I can't really complain about it. It does take a bit of a learning curve, you no longer aim your character with stick movements but by pointing the rifle. Its like you would imagine walking with a rifle turning as you move and aiming. I turned the sensitivity setting all the way down as the default setting is too sensitive for me. The only sore point is that with the Rifle, Move controller, Move nun-chuck all attached, it can get a bit heavy. I don't think I am ready for Afghanistan if I complain about the weight of my plastic ensemble I might do a homemade shoulder strap thingy. You do take over different gun turrets and walking armor etc, so you have to be comfortable with the aiming scheme to be successful.

There is a training area that will allow you to decide if the rifle is the way to go. But if you do go with the Rifle method, its a 3D Immersive game where you basically walk around with a weapon in hand. What more can you ask of a game simulation in your home today?

Thanks for posting your thoughts LesIsTechSavy! The rifle attachment is definitely a matter of opinion - it sounds like it's working well for you but it didn't work out for me. I found the most annoying thing to be the fact that you have to hold the rifle upright just to walk around, which you don't even have to do in a real war! Also, I don't think I'm ready for anything like Afghanistan either... fighting alien forces in my home theatre is just fine with me

    Back to the game though...

I have to say that the further I progress in the game, the more I'm enjoying it. Sitting in the gunner seat of the tank or the air scout ship and taking out the bad guys is a blast! The addition of the jet pack is also awesome!
