Default HD Tracks in Canada - Downloading from HD Tracks for Canadians

    Hey everyone,

I just learned that Canadians who wish to download high rez music from HD Tracks (www.hdtracks.com) can do so by paying with Paypal. Registering a credit card with them appearantly doesn't work because a Canadian address will be associated with the account.

    Source: SoundGame - thanks buddy!

Default Looking for High Resolution Music Downloads

I would like to purchase music from HD Tracks, but according to their website, downloads are available only to registered users (US addresses only) having credit cards with US addresses. Is PayPal still an option? Alternatively, are there other sources of high resolution music downloads available to Canadians? Thanks!

I've been enjoying my 24/192 version of Hotel California for a while

What does everyone use to playback the files? I have a htpc with Foobar and a Pivos Aios media player via hdmi.

I was listening to the Mozart Bach Vivaldi Concertos by Alexander SchneiderChamber Orc last night. The Bach Concerto for Violin, Obo and Strings is a great sonic romp. 96kHz/24bit is what I download for flac. I also have Jackson Brown, Running on Empty, Glen Gould, Bach the Goldberg Variations, The Corigliano Violin Concerto by Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestrs. I will be downloading others as finances permit.

I use a Iomega cloud server to store my music and the Yamaha RX-A to play to two zones, one in the office and the main int he living room controled with the iTouch.

    Welcome to the forum MutteringInMB!

Sounds like you've already got your answer for downloading from HDTracks - just use Paypal! I plan to download some stuff from them later this week too. I just did a quick visit to the site and it looks like they've got the whole ABKCD's HD remastered series of The Rolling Stones now for download in high rez!

BTW - if you're looking for other sites which offers good quality music download, check out this list that gil compiled for us a few months ago:

To answer your question audit13 - I use my awesome new Bryston BDP-1 Digital Player and BDA-1 DAC for digital music playback All of my files are in the FLAC format.

Wow, that BDP-1 looks sweet in that I could certainly give up my daily muffin to have that in my system

Since I'm using my HT system for music as well, no need for me to get a dac since my Anthem avr would wind up digitaizing the analog signal.

Suave, thanks for the welcome and the info. FYI, before joining this forum, I sent an enquiry to HDtracks asking if/when their downloads would be available to Canadians. I subsequently received the following reply:

    Bruce,

We greatly appreciate your enthusiasm for high resolution downloads and especially your desire to purchase great sounding music from HDtracks. We are certainly doing everything we can to open up in your territory and others via our agreements with our content providers. We hope to have this issue resolved as soon as possible. We thank you again for writing and letting us know you are fan of our store!

    Kindest regards,

    Norman and David Chesky
    Founders, HDtracks.com

Sounds like this is more an issue of negotiating distribution rights with the record labels than a payment issue.

    MutteringInMB,

It might very well be about distribution rights rather than payment; however, using PayPal definitely does work - distribution or not it appear that PayPal is a true workaround to get access to the hi-rez files. I'd say we should just count our blessings that there exists a method.

    Cheers
