London 2012 Olympics are set for 3D TV Viewing
There have been talks between BBC and NBC to have London 2012 viewable in 3D since summer of 2011.

Panasonic is in with funding and equipment and lots of experience.

There has been no official word from either NBC or in Canada CTV so I am hoping that the Americans will carry 3D content and if the CRTC (whom seem incapable of being able to not hit the block button) does not block the signal we here in Canada might see the first 3D Olympics.

CTV does say that they will be delivering London 2012 in digital, wow how 2012.
Now we just have to convince the CRTC that 3D content will not weaken Canadian attitudes, opinions, ideas, values and artistic creativity.

Thanks for sharing this with us LesIsTechSavy (and the venting)
I agree - it would be great to see some of the 2012 Olympics in 3D!!

3D Olympics not for Canada. Europe, China, Australia and United States all look like they are signed up for it.
If you click on individual counties or broadcasters its gives more details.

From Gizmodo (linked above): "The opening and closing ceremonies will be in 3D, as will a highlights package each day, but the only confirmed event that’ll be broadcast live in 3D will be the final of the men’s 100m, which means that if the runners are on typical pace, the BBC will only be broadcasting about 10 seconds of actual 3D footage."
Haha - 10 seconds of 3D footage... what a bunch of jokers! What's the point in all of this then?
Nevertheless, shame on the Canadian broadcasters not to offer any 3D olympics footage at all...

Wow 242 hours of 3D Olympic coverage, sounds like a lot, but its only 4.5% of the total coverage by NBC. I guess its a start and if you were to try and watch it all you will need just over 10 days
