Hi all,
Is it good practice to plug a UPS into a power conditioner? Is there any potential harm that can be done if one chooses to go this route? Any thoughts or experiences(good or bad) are welcome. Thanks all.

I'd guess that it would not cause a problem but I'm not sure what the benefit is you are looking for?
I have had 2 UPS's go up in flames over the years, both name brand units. I used to use them for all my PC's but I became a bit leery after that.
Hi AlienTech,
Reason is I have a ground loop issue happening. My UPS was plugged into a wall receptacle and my power conditioner plugged on the opposite side of the room. I should say I caught the source of a loud hum and it was coming through my cable outlet into my cable box. I fixed this issue using a ISO Max ground loop isolator and the loud hum stopped however when I plugged my UPS back into the wall receptacle the hum returned. When I plugged it into my Furman(ala advice from Furman Tech support) the hum went away. APC recommends their UPS units be plugged directly into the wall. I only use the UPS for back up purposes to give me time to save critical documents in the event of a power outage. Although it does surge suppression as well. So far so good with it being plugged into my Furman but a nagging concern that I don't want to cause an overload on my Furman. It would shut down as Extreme Voltage shutdown I guess. So any thoughts on the forum. Should I plug the UPS into another receptacle(not on the same circuit) or just leave it plugged into my Furman? My concern is that if the Furman shuts down would it cause damage to my system on the sudden shutdown. For example if I was watching a movie and it shut down. Can't imagine. Thanks all.

I have an APC UPS as well. I did the reverse and plugged the Power Conditioner into the UPS. Since you mentioned that you are using different outlets on different sides of your room have you tried the UPS on the same side as the Furman? You might be surprised that your house wiring on the other side may be routed differently and picking up noise that does not exist on the other side, just a thought.
Thanks for the advice LesIsTechSavy. I tried it and it worked. Simple solution it was for sure..haha. Thought I would've blown the receptacle having the APC and Furman plugged into it but it's all good now. Thanks for chiming in to my thread. All is well now in my audio/video world thanks to LesIsTechSavy.Cheers all.
