Hey guys,
I went out last night with George de Sa (aka SoundGame), one of CANADA HiFi's contributors, to see Ray Montford perform at Musideum (401 Richmond St. W., Toronto). I really enjoyed the show - Ray is an excellent solo guitar performer (he does also play with a band) who played mostly original songs but also performed a couple of cover songs. Ray's music seems to have influences from all over the place - from folk to blues to hard rock - it's kind of hard to define its actual genre. During the show a female singer also joined him for a couple of songs, who's voice I also enjoyed very much. The venue itself - Musideum is a store/museum of instruments collected from all over the world - sounded great and resulted in a very intimate performance. Musideum's owner also played a song on the piano which was awesome!
In fact, we're considering asking Ray to perform for us at the 2012 TAVES. You can listen to samples of his music at www.raymontford.com
What do you guys think of his music? Is he a good fit for TAVES?
