Kromer Radio in Toronto is closing

I just went by Kromer Radio the other day (on Bathurst, between Dundas and College) and found out they are closing down after 55 years because he is now retiring. This is where I bought a lot of stuff over the years (and where I pick up my copy of Canada HiFi). Everything is on sale so you might want to drop and check it out.

This is a real shame since Kromer Radio was one of only 2 stores like this in downtown Toronto. The only other stores like this is Bay Bloor Radio.

Nevertheless, I heard that Kromer has some crazy deals on right now... many products are appearantly being sold at cost and some even below cost. So if you guys have been thinking about picking up something new, now's a great chance

I know that one of the guys that contributes to CANADA HiFi was looking at getting a 5.1 set of Paradigm speakers and the pricing for them was VERY attractive.

I went by on Saturday and the week before that. Some of the prices were a bit high in my opinion while others were excellent.

I think the best deal I saw was the Marantz nr1403 5.1 receiver for $250.

Anyone remember Brack Electronics on Jarvis Street? Claudio in their service department was the best!

Wonder if they have much left now? I am going to be in TO this coming Sunday thru Wednesday and hoping to stop by there to at least take a look-see....

I guess the rumour is true. Anyone pick up anything nice - for a sweet price? I wish I knew on Friday - I would have made it a point to pop on over there this weekend - perhaps I'll try next weekend.

Sad to see another of these stores go.

I went by there yesterday with a friend of mine and it is pretty slim pickings. He did pick up a pair of Mordaunt Short Alumni 8 speakers including stands for 550 or something like that. Pretty good deal.

Thanks for the note Chris. Doesn't sound like many from the Forum - at least the regulars, found any sales there to their liking but I'm sure the liquidation has gone well from Kromer - given the slim pickings.

I wonder if he'll be selling the furniture and acoustic treatments that were used in the rooms?

That's a great suggestion SoundGame - I heard that they are selling absolutely everything... including the stores shelves. So I'm sure that you could pick up some acoustic treatments too... only a couple of days left...
