Kromer Radio is closing at the end of June. I can't verify whether the following is true , but a friend of mine told me they heard if you bring an old receipt from Kromer and show them you get an additional 5 or 10% off. If it's false I apologize. Just trying to save you a few dollars.

    First Brack and now Kromer....crazy.

The guys at Kromer were kind enough to give me my first experiece of ELAC - it would be a shame if this is actually a true "final" closing.

Can anyone confirm this is so????

Too bad he didn't have any children that were interested enough to take it on. I guess there arn't many looking to buy such businesses. At least it's not a bankruptcy.

The audio business is going through quite a rough time. I believe that big box stores like Costco, Best Buy, and Futureshop make it difficult for any independent audio retailer to survive. It's possible, but not always easy.

Will Bay Bloor Radio be next?

Claudio in Brack's service department was and still is one of the best repair techs around.

"Will Bay Bloor Radio be next"? Please don't even say it. It's such a shame about Kromer , they carried all kinds of stuff that Bay Bloor Radio didn't. Between the two you had a great selection of products. That leaves us with only one good sized , quality , high end audio store in the city (Bay Bloor Radio). I agree with you about the big box stores making it difficult for independent audio retailer's. I've told a few people that you'll get a better product and a better overall deal from Bay Bloor Radio than from going to a big box store. Unfortunately many people will just go to the big box store and not bother to research any other options.

I think that if Bay Bloor Radio plays the right cards they could actually benefit from this. Think of all the loyal/regular customers that shopped at Kromer Radio over the years. If Bay Bloor Radio can capture their attention and gain their trust this could very well increase their customer base.
