This is a crazy long thread... which I don't have enough time to read. If someone who actually takes the time to read it could summarize it for us here, that would be awesome![]()

Here is the Coles notes version, Suave.
This is still in prototype stages but serious progress has recently been made.
The focus appears to be on VG sounding 2 channel audio with the priority being on the player and not the server (though you never know if they might be able to bring in the Vortexbox model …. Which would be most awesome.
It’ll use different HW with player app being SB emulation based on Squeezeplay. The hardware is based on the Wandboard (http://www.wandboard.org/) which will allow daughterboards to be installed as needed/designed. Pretty neat main board with dual core CPU, programmable DSP and enough processing power to multitask fine. USB, S/PDIF coax, S/PDIF optical, line level analog and headphone outs. The guy designing the DAC daughterboard is a very good one and has solid design principles in place with regards to jitter clocks, voltage regulators and ground plane issues. He believes this DAC will be far superior to the DAC that is currently in the Touch.
Squeezelite will be headless playback of local files and radio streams via Logitech Media Server.
Touch screen interface ..... TBA. No Logitech involvement.
I believe the intent is to keep the part cost in the $250 range for a basic player. Not sure if the intent is to build these for commercial purposes or not. If so, then the pricing would certainly escalate.
A (promising) update for those who are interested.

Any way as of late last week I have a working DAC test board with all the actual parts I will be using, and I can program the registers on the DAC chip.
How do I put this, with the right parameters and tweaked just right it is literally spine tingling. I was listening to this with a friend yesterday, when it got dialed in just right I was literally getting goose bumps listening to music through this.
This is way better than I ever dared to hope.
It's going to take awhile to get this out to you all, but it is definitely going to be worth it.

Thanks for sharing this Pneumonic - these guys should get the funding for this project on www.kickstarter.com... or one of these sites (unless they've already done so).

Apologies, gentlemen. Link should now work.
