    Default OLED DELAYED until 2013

Well if you were like me trying to keep an eye out for an OLED TV it was all in vain.

Both Samsung and LG will not be shipping until sometime in 2013. So hold on you your $10,000 - $15,000 until after Xmas

I am wondering if there are bugs with the display or other techincal issues that might be the root cause of this technical "loss of face"

Well there is always the Sony 4K set at the Eaton Centre to hold us over until the next big thing comes along.

I had a feeling this was going to happen. I've been in constant contact with both Samsung and LG and every time I ask either company about when the new OLED TVs will finally be available I get a response - "we don't have any news yet".

Let's just hope this isn't anything major that will result in long delays... after all OLED tech has been promised to us a few years ago now but we have yet to see these TVs on store shelves, even at the ridiculously high prices. Still, what I wouldn't do to get one in my hands

We may never see the light of an OLED.......
The latest buzz is that both Samsung and LG are now rethinking OLED in favor of 4K.

I think everyone is waiting for the CES 2013. If 4K is received well I think OLED will be in serious trouble.
It will be harder to sell picture quality and screen size when there is the altenative of Improved screen resolution and size. With many more manufacturers ready to jump on board of the 4K bandwagon, prices will be competative.
Until OLED panel manufacturing can overcome the 90% failure rate I can't see this technology being competative.

From a technology stand-point it would be very sad to not see OLED TVs finally hitting the stores this year. But from an economy/manufacturer stand-point I can understand why OLED's future might be in doubt. After all, how many consumers will be willing to substitute their already big screen plasma or LCD TVs for a OLED TV. We (enthusiasts) might be but the quality of the TV picture is more than good enough for the average consumer.

For that matter, the same applies to 4K TVs. How many people will jump on this? History has shown that most consumers choose TVs mostly based on size, rather than picture quality. Hence companies like Pioneer quit the TV business. Even 3D tech didn't work out as well as TV manufacturers had hoped.

As an enthusiast at heart, I certainly hope that both OLED and 4K technologies will see the necessary success in 2013 for both to continue to develop. I suppose we'll see what happens at CES but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good news

Default LG OLED TV Release Date Canada

At a recent industry event, LG said that it expects to begin shipping the LG 55 inch OLED TV in Canada early in the second half of 2013. That means we'll finally get to see what all the hype is about this summer - can't wait!!

Hey Sauve - have you already made headway in getting a review request in on this one. I'm sure that Mike or yourself would be eager to evaluate. I'm very curious on what a large version like that will look like.

Perhaps we will see a set at TAVES?

We have certainly made a request with Samsung Canada, although the last time I connected with our contact (a couple of weeks ago) they still didn't have a release date. Both Mike and I are SUPER curious to see these sets with our own eyes!!

Yes, we are doing everything we possibly can to make sure that both the Samsung and LG OLED TVs will be demonstrated at TAVES 2013.
