Thank you for the continued feedback about Guydster guys - I'm very happy to hear that some of you enjoy the content that we're building on there! We just added a new contributor to Guydster so the content will be updated even quicker than before. SoundGame - I couldn't have answered the question better about bookshelf speakers versus tower speakers better than you already did. Thank you so much for tackling this one!

Something I would like to add to SoundGame's points is that sometimes people purchase bookshelf speakers because they take up less space and cost less. But the fact is that a bookshelf speaker needs to be placed on a solid, good-quality speaker stand (which can cost another several hundred dollars) and hence will end up taking pretty much the same amount of space as a floorstanding speaker.

The bookshelf vs floorstanding speaker consideration is kind of similar to solid state vs tube amps, in the sense that each design has its merits. Over the years, I've learned to appreciate both designs and enjoy them both, realizing what the benefits of each design are.
